A taste of winter wild swimming in Wales

Earlier this month I went for a ‘mooch’ up Cadair Idris to swim in Llyn Cau. It was a solo adventure so I’m pretty proud of myself. The lake is set in the dramatic glacial crater with 400m high mountain walls creating an epic backdrop. It was very cold but a good friend informs me you NEVER regret going for a swim.

My personal approach is not to hang about. Get in and get out!  From the little bit of winter swimming I’ve done I’ve learnt that a flask of hot tea is a perfect post swim companion.
