#NEWYORKDIY with Air France

About This Project

  • Director of Cinematography
  • Filming

In 2014 I was the female director of photography on an interactive Air France commercial in New York.  The campaign launched in 2015 and it’s called #NewYorkDIY.  It’s an awesome way to explore New York from a personal point of view (POV). Work began and pretty much didn’t stop until we landed home. We were filming from a POV perspective so I spent an awful lot of time wearing a motorcycle helmet on my head and used my own DIY helmet cam rig with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

You start by making a number of choices about your ideal trip in New York. First thing is to choose whether you’re male or female. Then you make a number of other choices about what time you want to arrive, eat for lunch, afternoon activity, evening meal and finally what to do at night.  With magical wizardry it spits out the perfect trip video just for you based on your choices.  The two on display are some of my favourites but I recommend you visit the website and take a tour yourself. Aurodia is the agency responsible for putting this great campaign together.

You can see a few behind the scenes photos here.
